Style: Report on the Daffy's Liquidation Sale

As you may know, New York based discount store Daffy's (similar to TJ Maxx, Century 21, etc) has filed for bankruptcy. So, in the next few months the company will be closing down all of its stores and is hosting a large liquidation sale

On Friday I visited the large Daffy's store on E 57th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues. While the sale advertises that all items in the store are discounted by 10-30%, I found that at this point in the sale nearly everything was only marked down by only 10%, with most home items marked down by 20% (some great mirrored side tables and bureaus!), and only the sunglasses were marked down by 30% (the sunglasses selection was already cheap i.e. pretty stylish but flimsy ones by Rampage originally $9.99 at Daffy's). I imagine these prices can only go down.

However, many of the items I'd seen previously at stores that I particularly liked (dresses from See by Chloe, Izak tech cases, summer straw bags, etc) were either noticeably absent or in small quantities, perhaps indicating that the store has sold some of their stock to other stores in the liquidation process? Regardless, I have no doubt the 10% discounted items will be discounted even further in the coming weeks. So, if you see a few items you love, just be patient!

Here are a few of my favorite finds:

Chanel style large quilted purses with chain handles
in a variety of colors, ~ $30

Swim cover-up / tunic top by Julie Brown, ~ $30

An adorable boucle jacket, ~ $50

I also have to note that there was a GIANT selection of children's clothing (see the adorable Rothschild yellow coat below). So, if you have small children, this sale could be a wonderful opportunity to stock up on cute clothes with reasonable pricetags, which is a good find considering they grow out of each size so quickly!
