If you haven't checked out Ulta yet, be sure to sign up for their newsletter. They are a large one-stop shop for designer make-up (similar to Sephora) with great high-quality house brand make-up as well. Most locations also have an in-store salon that offers services like waxing, makeup application, and haircuts / coloring.
Their email lists and direct mail (catalogue) offer great coupons every month that can be applied on almost everything in-store and online, including designer makeup brands that are often not included in general department store sales. This month one of the e-mail offers, $10 off a purchase of $60 or more can also be applied online by using the code "89776". In addition to their regular mailing list they also have a FREE rewards program, much like Sephora's "Beauty Insider". After various purchase amounts, you earn deluxe beauty samples of products as well as other special offers and discounts.
While Ulta does not currently have any locations in Manhattan, they offer an extensive online store that often has more of the sale items in stock than in their physical stores. A few of their closest brick-and-mortar stores are located in: Patchogue - Long Island, Princeton - New Jersey (the store I have personally visited), and Rego Park - Queens. For those not in the NYC area, they currently have stores in all 50 states except: Alaska, Hawaii, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Vermont.
