Haute on the Spot's special correspondent, James Tang, snapped these exclusive front row shots at the Kaelen show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Sept. 6-13, 2012) at Lincoln Center in New York last Thursday.
As you can see, Kaelen's Spring 2013 Collection features the continuation of the peplum, color block, high-low hem, and cut-out trends - or rather, the evolution of them with elements like double-layered peplum.
The designer's featured color for spring was without a doubt canary yellow with a slight neon hue. The rest of the collection is presented in neutral hues of black, white, grey, and brown.
I especially love the graphic prints. Kaelen's print of choice (see: skirt + pants below and above shorts + jacket) looks a lot like a stone path you'd see in a garden, yet with a bit of an animal print element to it. It's very impressionistic and reminds me of a watercolor painting. There were also several pieces with a wavy black and white striped print.
