The New York Pops will be conducting a FREE performance today (Tues, 6/12) from 8-10pm in Central Park as part of the City Parks Foundation's summer-long SummerStage arts program. The event will be first come, first served until they reach capacity. Tickets are not required - just show up at Rumsey Playfield (Fifth Avenue at 69th Street)! The Pops will be accompanied by Ozomatli (an LA based Urban-Latino band) and the Harlem School of the Arts Jazz Band & Advanced Jazz Combo composed of Elementary, Middle, and High School age students. If you're a music aficionado and can't make it this week, there's another great SummerStage event coming up next month. On July 25th from 8-10pm, the Metropolitan Opera will present its Summer Recital Series in Central Park. Performers will include: Danielle de Niese (soprano), Dimitri Pittas (tenor), John del Carlo (bass-baritone), and Dan Saunders (conductor & pianist).
